Incredible India - II

My flight from Moscow got delayed by 7 hours because of thick/heavy fog at New Delhi Airport. Its quite surprising to me that the country which has technical institutes like 7+[x] IITs cannot up with a solution to fog problem.

If there is a problem get engineering involved and solve it. If there is no technical solution available, then come up with a winter time-table for flights (Here, I make an assumption that India has good enough weather technology to predict clear skies and visibility conditions). At-least, commuters will be mentally prepared and plan their vacations/meetings/schedule accordingly.

From the point of view of Airport Authorities at New Delhi, it is just another delay in another flight. But generally, people have a lot of things planned and arranged after the flight which gets totally disrupted because of the looooooong delays.

I wish, concerned people understand the value of time and take some constructive steps instead of just reporting delay statistics and using just-in-time approach to re-schedule flights.

Personally, I didn't lose much except for 7 hours of my limited vacation days, paying ~50$ for a taxi which I did not use, being late on reaching home on my birthday. Given the mobility involved in my job, I am OK with waiting for flight for 8-9 hours at any civilized airport at any time of day/year, but it really helps a lot if you know it well in advance.

Give me a break from this baby shit!!

Bad weather disrupts flights, trains all over the world. And It's not ATC does not take into account fog situation in winter. As you mentioned, They change the timings of morning flights.

And one more thing, Its easy to point fingers on others. You too are from IIT. What have you done to correct any situation in this country. Things are bad. I accept. But you don't have right to critisize unless you have done something to correct it.

So get your ass here and start doing something for your country.

And whats that sarcasm with "!ncredible !ndia".

And you know something, Its been almost 6 yrs for me wondering in the jungles of internet, But I am yet to see post someone criticizing their own country except Indians. Yeah there have been posts on policies of certain leaders, but not for the country...

So its time you start behaving as a citizen of a great country..Ok

"Things are bad. I accept" - So whats wrong in posting about it ?

They change the timings of morning flight but when? Just before the departure. If someone can predict the weather conditions before (atleast a week), then people travelling on these flights can plan accordingly.

"But you don't have right to critisize unless you have done something to correct it." the very next line.

And they change the general timings. The fight I used to catch around 5:30 am is now scheduled around 7-7:30..

That shows, You have not tried to find the situation here, but started cribbing...

I can understand you have reason to be angry. But it was delayed by fog, something that we can't control, in the first place. As you have seen the world more, I assume you haven't faced similar experience elsewhere. So you are probably right in pointing out that there ought to be more effort from the airport authorities to curb with situations like this and lessen passenger inconvenience.
