Gmail Server Errors - gmail down?

Server Error
We're sorry, but Gmail is temporarily unavailable. We're currently working to fix the problem -- please try logging in to your account in a few minutes.
There is some problem in Gmail servers today. Few minutes have become 5 hours for some people. Yahoo mail is gaining most out of this.

Google Group for gmail is seeing a heavy activity today. Still no word from Gmail team. A Starnge point to note is that while some accounts are accessible, others are not. People are able to use all service from a Google account except for Gmail.

Most of the people are having 2 accounts and according to Murphy's Law, there primary account is dead. Let's hope to hear from Gmail Team soon.

Update: I am able to login into my gmail once again. I suffered for just 2 hours unlike those who are reporting on Google Group that they had to wait for 5 hours. But Gmail is logging me out if I try to download soem attachment. But this logging-out-if-download problem is in IE-6 only, not in Mozilla.

I am lucky! I got my gmail back within 30 minutes. Even I am facing problems in downloading attachments. But now it seems to be fixed for my account.

However, one thing that is not clear, why only some Gmail accounts had problems ???

And, how much did Yahoo! made out of this crash ???

Dear Gmail Users,

Why don't you realise that even after 2 years, 8 months and some days of our launch, we are still in Beta because we cannot solve the problem of sending 200 spams daily and Server down problems. This crash has been done so that most of you stop talking about - When will Gmail leave beta.

Oh I forgot! I am supposed to write a formal letter which is just a apology.....

Thanks for your report. If you're still experiencing problems with your
account, you can log in using Gmail's basic HTML interface at
http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=html

We appreciate your patience in this matter, and thank you for taking
the time to contact us. We'll use the information you've provided to
help improve Gmail and we'll contact you if we need more information.

Our engineers have been working hard to make improvements to Gmail,
including the issue you described. We'd like to know if you're still
affected by this issue - if so, please respond to this message so that
we can continue to look into it.

Sincerely,

The Anti-Google Team

I have not been able to get in to my gmail for at least the last 8 or 9 hours. Even did a re-boot on my computer but that didn't help. But thanks for the html link. I can only get in that way.

I've had this problems many many times in the past including another day today. Google, you'd better do something about it after admitting the problem with an apology. Words are fast......

This is most annoying! Gmail is now my primary email ... So, Google, you keep trumpeting your new server-based software capabilities -- it won't fly if this is what happens.

Yahoo Mail looks even more attractive now :(

it seems consistent with most complaints, like mine, that the primary address doesn't work because it contains a lot more "stuff" - all of my secondary addresses are small and are having no problem, my primary address is about 25% full and I've been dying for at least three hours now with no luck. . .

Friday, December 15 11:20 am Austin, TX. I am getting the server error message on my primary account only. I have no problems logging into acillary accounts that I opened a long time ago.

Going to the html page does squat and

(whoops...to finish) Mozilla brings back same error message. Something's up (or down, as the case may be).

Messages sent to you during the outage will be delivered as normal once access to your account is restored. Gmail team is collecting incoming messages in a designated queue and will deliver them to all affected accounts as soon as the technical problem is fixed.

It seems that it's isolated with some accounts. There are other Google Apps and Google Mail accounts I can log in to. Another particular account I can't.

Oh brother. And that's my single most important email :)
